AZF Series

AZF starters from Mahle Electric Drives are a series of starters for use on medium-duty mobile equipment, as well as heavy-duty equipment. They are used to start diesel engines with a displacement of 2 to 12 liters for commercial vehicles, trucks, tractors, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, ships, generator sets and other applications.

A characteristic design feature of the starters of this series is the diameter of the housing, which for all models of the series is 95 mm. Starters have a planetary reduction gear, increasing the output torque, electric motor part and starting relay with retracting and holding windings, overrunning clutch (bendix) with drive pinion.

Advantages of AZF starters: 

• compact dimensions and reduced weight in comparison with direct-drive starters of similar capacity;
• high specific output power and efficiency;
• high efficiency when starting engines in cold conditions with low battery current consumption;
• high efficiency drive, providing minimum power consumption at idle speed.

The sealed versions of the AZF series starters with cantilevered outreach are also used for particularly harsh operating conditions.

AZF 24V versions of 5.5kW starters can also be equipped with an electronic soft start relay integrated with the starter.

A number of models of starters from AZF series are specially designed and adapted for use on machinery and engines manufactured in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

Starter AZF 4617 — is a geared starter with rated voltage 24V, power 5.5kW, and with cantilever outreach gear, designed specifically for the set of tractors Belarus with engine MMZ D-260. It is serially supplied to the conveyor of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ). It is fitted on MTZ «Belarus» tractors with D-240, 245, 260 engines with capacity from 4,8 to 7,1 liters and trucks ZIL-5301 «Bychok» Euro-2.

The AZF 4617 12V version of the AZF 4639 starter is also available for Belarus tractors.

The starter AZF4307 (AZF4581) is used for equipping MAZ vehicles with YaMZ engines — six-cylinder diesel engines of the YaMZ-236 series and eight-cylinder diesel engines of the YaMZ-238 series. They are also installed on T150 tractors manufactured by KhTZ.
