Hidria

The Slovenian company Hidria has more than half a century of history in developing solutions in the field of automotive and industrial technology. In 1955 the company Avtoelektro — AET Tolmin was founded, and initially it produced spark plugs for passenger cars. After 2 years the company began to produce glow plugs for diesel engines as well. Later, the company started to develop other new products that were required in the market, such as technical ceramics, glow plugs for diesel generators and thermoregulation elements.

In 1975, the development and search for new markets led to the merger of the fast growing AET Company with the Iskra Company. During this period, the first glow plugs were supplied to Perkins.

Over the next twenty years, the company continued to strengthen its market position and reputation. Its flagship products were magneto, ignition systems and technical ceramics. During this period, AET also began to actively enter foreign markets. Collaboration with Stihl, the world’s leading chain saw manufacturer, has contributed to this success.

In 1998, AET became part of the Hidria corporation, which allowed a significant increase in the volume of production and therefore in 2002 a new department for electronic equipment was created. In 2004 the company received 2 quality certificates — ISO 14001 and ISO TS 16949. Hidria AET became an OEM supplier of ignition components for Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Fiat, Ford, Land Rover and other passenger car manufacturers. The company has also become a supplier of components for the production of many commercial vehicles and equipment produced by such companies as MAN, DEUTZ, Perkins, Caterpillar and many others.

As a result of Hidria’s focus on research and development as one of the keys to its success, the foundations of the Hidria Automotive Institute were laid to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.

With the help of its own test laboratories, highly qualified teams have the opportunity to develop and test complete solutions for diesel ignition systems that are compliant with the latest stringent environmental standards.

Today Hidria is one of the leading companies in the development of innovative solutions for automotive and industrial applications.
